Support is important to have in our lives. It will enter your life at any stage, but when it does, it will help you become the better version of yourself and keep you on the right track. In our previous blog post, I mentioned how minority women in STEM fields tend to feel intimidated, but why this is common?
Some reasons include, but are not limited to:
Bias: minority women face racial stereotypes and discrimination which lead to isolation...
Lack of Self-Confidence: when these women go through social inequalities, they feel insecure and less capable of doing what they wish to do, dropping their morale...
No Motivation: once their self-confidence is lost, these women automatically become emotionally targeted and set low standards for themselves, which becomes a hindrance to achieving their full potential and showing who they really are...
In most cases, these influences are unconscious. In other words, these women don't actually understand what's happening to them and let society take over their lives.
To the women out there reading this:
If you feel that you've been under the influence of any factors that have made you decide to hold back from continuing or pursuing your dreams, share your story, tell us what you wish to become, and you will see that you are not alone and there are many who face similar situations!
If you did grow up affected by any of these factors as a woman, found your way around it, and maintained that self-confidence: consider sharing your story with other women out there who are currently facing the same issue you once did or still are! Give them the hope to pursue their dreams, just the way you did!
We have created this platform to provide emotional support! We have come up with this Global Photo Project to showcase women from all around the world who have gone through similar struggles and wish to pursue dreams just like every other human around the globe.
