HerTime for Black Lives

Hello all, looking at what’s been happening recently in the United States we want to use this platform to discuss what’s been going on. As we know, the BLM Movement has achieved another one of its peaks with the recent events. The movement works to campaign against violence and racism specifically within the African-American community. As supporters of the BLM Movement and founders of HerTime, we have come to observe that while the African-Americans are definitely a large group that suffer from racial discrimination and other social inequalities, there are other groups that are similarly overlooked.

Minority women today experience major social inequalities throughout their lives. Common inequalities include isolation and discrimination. They struggle with the lack of access to proper housing and opportunities for employment. With such difficulties, these women clearly are more prone to developing trauma as these experiences contribute to developing negative mental and physical health problems. To prevent these minority women from further struggles, we have dedicated ourselves into gathering resources for these women. HerTime is a nonprofit organization that works to help and support minority women who struggle financially and emotionally but are motivated for opportunities.

We have seen that, in specifically STEM fields, women in general are the minority. This is because due to gender roles, expectations, and stereotypes, these women feel intimidated in advanced environments. By creating a similar environment within our organization, we want to help these women feel more comfortable and most importantly boost their levels of confidence.

We will keep you posted on more details and further developments!
